In-home setup checklist
Confirm the space before you drive
Mobile artists who skip a pre-arrival setup checklist eventually show up to a customer who has no floor space, no outlet, or two excited dogs. The pre-arrival checklist gates house-call bookings on the basics so you don’t drive across town to discover a deal-breaker.
Spray-tan defaults
Five items, four required
6x6 ft of clear floor space
RequiredEnough room for the pop-up tent + the artist to walk around it. Living rooms + bedrooms with cleared floors both work; cramped kitchens + small bathrooms don't.
Electrical outlet within 10 ft
RequiredThe spray gun + compressor need 110V power. Extension cords are OK if heavy-duty; thin Christmas-light-grade cords trip the breaker mid-session.
Ventilation
RequiredWindow that opens, a fan, or a door to outside. Prevents spray solution from settling in the room's air; protects both client + artist; faster post-session airing.
Pets contained
RequiredExcited dogs + curious cats both interfere with the spray session + risk getting accidentally tan-misted themselves. Crate the dog or close a bedroom door for the duration.
Kids occupied
Recommended30-45 minutes of attention to spare. Most artists prefer kids in a different room with a screen or another parent. Not required, but heavily recommended for a streak-free outcome.
How it gates
The booking flow
- 01Customer picks a service + date + time on a house- call booking.
- 02On the confirm step, after standard intake, the setup-checklist section renders.
- 03All Required items must be checked or the submit button stays disabled. Recommended items are advisory.
- 04The customer’s checks are stored against the appointment’s intake answers under
_setup.<key>: your record-of-what-they-confirmed.
FAQ
- What is the in-home setup checklist?
- A pre-arrival yes/no questionnaire the customer fills out at booking time. Confirms they have what's required for the artist to set up at the address (floor space, outlet, ventilation, pet protocol). Required items block booking confirmation; recommended items just warn. Per-vertical config; spray-tan's defaults cover the most common gotchas.
- Can I skip the checklist for trusted clients?
- Today the checklist applies uniformly per service. Future versions may add per-client override for repeat customers. For now: if a regular's already set up their space once + you've confirmed, future bookings won't re-ask the same questions until the artist updates the checklist config.
- What goes on the checklist?
- Spray tan defaults: 6x6 ft of clear floor space, electrical outlet within 10 ft, ventilation (window or fan or door to outside), pets contained, kids occupied. Each item has a description so the customer knows WHY (e.g. 'ventilation prevents the spray solution from setting in the room's air after the session').
- Can I add custom checklist items?
- Yes: Settings → Mobile setup checklist. Add per-account items. They appear AFTER the vertical defaults, are configurable required vs recommended, and surface in the same gate flow.
