Spray tan pricing: 2026 reference
What to charge for a spray tan
Pricing is regional, service-mix dependent, and changes when you hit your first hundred clients. These are the May-2026 reference ranges aggregated from public booking listings across Miami, Nashville, Austin, San Diego, and Charleston: a starting point for an artist mid-onboarding, not a definitive rate card.
By service tier
Standard 8h spray tan
Full-body, 8-hour development. Most common entry-level service. Markets in the Southeast trend lower; coastal markets and major metros trend higher.
Rapid / express (2-4h)
Shorter development window for the customer's convenience. $10-20 premium over the standard 8h.
Premium / custom-blend
Hand-mixed solution to the client's skin tone, plus a slightly longer session. Often includes a contour-enhancement upcharge.
Bridal solo
Includes consultation, custom shade match, prep guidance, and often a complimentary touch-up on wedding morning.
Bridal party (per member)
Per-member rate within the bridal package. Discounts kick in at 4+ members; bride often goes free at 6+.
Patch test (DHA sensitivity)
Most artists offer this free. A small percentage charge a credit-toward-service amount.

Same service can run $50 in one zip code and $110 a few miles away. Calibrate to your local SERP.

How to raise prices
Three rules of thumb
- Raise prices once a year, in your slow season. New rates apply to bookings made after the cutoff : grandfathered customers see the old price for anything already on the calendar.
- Announce 30 days before the change. SMS the existing book + post on Instagram. Most regulars respect a once-a-year structured increase; the anger comes from surprise.
- Raise by 8-15%. Smaller and it gets eaten by processing fees + inflation. Larger and you lose the customers you don’t want to lose.
FAQ
- How much does a spray tan cost in 2026?
- Standard spray tans in the US range from $40 to $120 in 2026, with the median around $60. Premium and bridal services run $90 to $180. Mobile / house-call rates add a $25 to $75 travel fee on top, depending on distance.
- How much should I charge for a mobile spray tan?
- Most established mobile spray-tan artists charge their standard service rate plus a per-mile or per-ZIP travel fee. Common patterns: 0-10 miles free, 10-25 miles +$25, 25+ miles +$50 or hourly drive-time. Bridal-party house calls often run $90 to $150 per person with the travel fee folded in.
- What's a fair group rate for a bridal party?
- Common patterns: 10% off for 4+ members; bride-goes-free at 6+ members; flat per-person discount ($10-20 off) for the whole group. The bride's solo rate typically remains full-price even when offering group discounts to the maids of honor.
- Should I charge extra for rapid / express formulas?
- Yes: rapid formulas (2-4 hour development) command a $10 to $20 premium over standard (8-hour) tans. The shorter window is the customer's convenience, not yours.
