Inventory tracking
Stop running out mid-appointment
Most solo artists track inventory by feel: and then run out of spray solution two days before a bridal party. The fix takes two minutes a week + the iOS app’s one-tap use-now button. Three categories, three reorder triggers, one report.
Three categories
What to track
Consumables (per-session use)
Examples: Spray solution by lot, prep wipes, gloves, hairnets, barrier cream
Reorder when: When stock drops below 2 weeks of typical use. Spray solution especially: running out mid-bridal-party is a real revenue loss.
Reusables (artist tools)
Examples: Spray gun, compressor parts, pop-up tent, fan, replacement nozzles
Reorder when: On a maintenance cadence (quarterly for nozzles, yearly for guns, as-needed for big-ticket items).
Client take-home (aftercare)
Examples: Aftercare moisturizer, body wash, exfoliating mitts, sample sachets
Reorder when: When stock drops below 1 month of typical bundled-with-appointment volume. Bundled aftercare is upsell revenue you can't capture without stock.
Use-now button (iOS)
One tap, post-appointment
After every appointment, open the iOS app’s inventory view + tap “Use 1” on the items you used. Goldenhour decrements the stock + fires a low-stock alert when the item falls below its reorder threshold.
- Bulk-use shortcut: for spray- tan, tap "use one session" + goldenhour decrements the bundle of consumables tied to your typical service (solution + prep wipes + gloves) in a single tap.
- Lot tracking: spray-solution items can be tagged with the lot number for recall traceability + DHA-exposure auditing.
Reorder alerts
Set your threshold, get the alert
Each item has a reorder threshold. When stock drops to or below it, goldenhour surfaces a low-stock banner on /app/inventory + an opt-in push notification to the iOS app. Daily-brief email also includes pending reorders.
Reports
Per-month spend tracking
Track item-level cost + you get a monthly COGS report : how much each spray cost you in solution + wipes + gloves. Useful when raising prices, evaluating supplier deals, or deciding whether to switch solutions.
Typical solo spray-tan COGS ranges:
- $6-$12 per session for solution + disposables
- At $60/session and $9 COGS, your gross margin is ~85%: strong for any service business.
