Every toggle, defaults sane
Configuration reference for every notification goldenhour sends. Companion to /help/booking-confirmations which describes WHAT we send; this is how to CONFIGURE it.
10 settings
Booking confirmation channel
Default: Both (SMS + email)Whether confirmations go SMS, email, or both. Both is the safe default: SMS hits 98% open rate; email is the trust + searchable record. Some artists turn off SMS to avoid Twilio costs on a tight budget; most should keep both.
Pre-tan prep checklist (spray-tan only)
Default: OnFires T-36h before spray-tan appointments. Links to the public prep page. Required for first-time clients (waiver step); can be toggled off for known repeat clients.
2-hour reminder
Default: OnShort SMS at T-2h ('Quick reminder you're booked with us at 4pm'). Reduces same-day no-shows by ~20%. Toggle off if your customer base finds the nudge annoying.
Post-care / aftercare
Default: OnFires T+24h after a completed appointment. Vertical-specific aftercare tips + booking-link prefill for the next visit. Stops if the client doesn't have a phone or email on file.
Review request
Default: OnFires T+12h after completion. Links to your Google review URL when set. Skips clients who reviewed in the last 90 days. Configure your Google review URL in Settings → Reputation.
Rebook nudge (smart-rebook)
Default: OnPer-client cadence based on their last 10 visits. Fires at the median interval. Default fallback (for clients with <3 visits) inherits from your account-wide autoRebookNudgeDays setting.
Quiet hours
Default: Off (Settings → Retention to enable)Local-time window during which automated retention SMS (rebook nudge, win-back, birthday) skip. Common pattern: 9pm to 8am. Transactional sends (confirmations, reminders) ignore quiet hours.
Custom email-from domain
Default: noreply@goldenhourhq.com (until custom domain verified)Once you verify an email-from domain (Settings → Custom domain → Email), outbound email rewrites to noreply@yourbrand.com. Improves deliverability + matches your branding.
Birthday SMS
Default: OnFires on the client's birthday with a small promo or congratulatory message. Customize the copy in Settings → Retention → Birthday SMS.
Win-back campaign
Default: On (default 60-day inactivity)Fires when a client has been inactive past the configured win-back window. Settings → Retention → Win-back days. Sends 1 SMS; doesn't re-fire (avoids spam).
Recommended starting config
First-week defaults are sensible: review at 30 days
Goldenhour’s out-of-the-box defaults work for 90% of solo artists. The 30-day review:
- Add a Google review URL to start capturing reviews automatically.
- Verify your email-from domain (Settings → Custom domain → Email) so outbound email reads as yours.
- Enable quiet hours if your clientele skews late-shift / hospitality / parent. 9pm-8am local typical.
- Customize the birthday copy beyond the generic default. A line in your voice + a small promo + a booking-link CTA.
